New Drywall Installation
Full drywall hanging on new framing — measuring and cutting panels, fastening at correct intervals, installing moisture-resistant board in wet areas. K and K Construction follows Ohio building code for fire-rated assemblies, sound-rated walls, and moisture-prone spaces. We coordinate with your electrician and plumber so inspections happen in sequence.
Taping & Finishing
Taping all seams and corners, embedding joint compound in multiple coats, and sanding to a paint-ready surface. K and K Construction delivers Level 4 finish (standard for most painted walls) and Level 5 skim coat (required for semi-gloss paint or walls under direct lighting). Proper multi-coat finishing is what separates professional drywall from visible seam lines six months after painting.
Drywall Repair & Patching
Small holes, large punch-throughs, stress cracks, and fastener pops — K and K Construction patches any size of drywall damage and feathers the compound to blend invisibly with surrounding walls. We install proper backing blocks on larger repairs so patches don't flex and re-crack. Commonly needed after electrical work or plumbing runs.
Water Damage Restoration
Water-damaged drywall must be fully replaced — it cannot be dried and repainted. K and K Construction removes saturated material after confirming the moisture source is resolved, checks for mold, and installs new drywall with proper tape and finish. We install mold-resistant board where warranted — critical in Ohio's humid climate and in homes with prior moisture history.
Ceiling Drywall
Ceiling drywall is the most demanding application — every seam and fastener is directly visible under light. K and K Construction uses 5/8″ board for ceilings (more rigid, sags less), applies extra compound coats to prevent shadowing, and sands meticulously under raking light. We also repair sagging ceiling panels and damaged sections after water events or structural movement.
Specialty Board Types
K and K Construction installs green board and cement board in wet areas, Type X fire-rated board in garage-to-living-space assemblies and stairwells, and sound-dampening board in home theaters and shared walls. We specify the correct product for every application — not just standard board everywhere regardless of the environment.
Popcorn Ceiling Removal
Removing spray-applied popcorn texture and skim-coating the ceiling smooth before any new finish is applied. On pre-1978 Ohio homes, K and K Construction coordinates asbestos testing before scraping begins. Once the ceiling is flat, your choice of new finish — smooth, knockdown, or skip-trowel — is applied through our texturing service.

Before any board goes up, we check framing for bow and alignment. Wavy walls start at framing — fixing it before hanging costs nothing. After taping it costs everything.
Taping coat, filler coat, finish coat — sanded between each. Skipping coats is the most common Ohio drywall shortcut. K and K Construction doesn't skip.
Compound dries differently in Ohio's humid summers versus dry heated winters. We adjust consistency and timing to prevent cracking, bubbling, and adhesion failure.

On Every Project
K and K Construction follows the same disciplined five-step process on every drywall job — a single patch or a whole-house hang.
Inspect existing conditions — framing, moisture, finish level — and deliver a free written estimate covering all materials and labor.
Specify the correct board type for each area: standard, moisture-resistant, fire-rated, or sound-dampening — matched to space and Ohio code.
Panels cut to fit, fastened at correct intervals, with proper blocking at all edges. No floating cuts against unsupported framing.
Three-coat minimum finishing with full sanding between coats. All seams, corners, and fasteners feathered to Level 4 or Level 5 as specified.
Final inspection under raking light to catch imperfections. Space left clean, dust managed, and ready for texturing, priming, or painting.
